Robotics Team Heads To Regionals Feb. 25th

The Pittsburg High School Robotics team -- the “Terror Bytes”  -- took first place in the Plano Academy Qualifiers meet on Jan. 21.
PHS, one of 18 teams competing, advances to the Feb. 25 regional championship against the best FIRST FTC teams in the North Texas region at UT-Arlington.
The competition is sponsored by For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST).
FIRST has different competitions that students can enter depending on age and grade range.
First Tech Challenge (FTC) is the competition in which the PHS team competed.
Each team is assigned a team number when they register with FIRST.
The PHS team number, 3899 is the official number in which other teams can locate the PHS team on the FIRST website.
FIRST has been associated with PHS Robotics since 2009.
The FIRST website mission statement is: “The mission of FIRST is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting Mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.”
