PISD Honored at TASA Conference

AUSTIN -- Pittsburg Intermediate School was honored at TASA’s (Texas Association of School Administrators) 2017 Midwinter Conference for being one of the 26 Texas schools selected in the 2016 Blue Ribbon Schools Program.
The schools were recognized at a luncheon in their honor on Jan. 30 in Austin.
Founded in 1982, the Blue Ribbon Schools is a U.S. Department of Education program that recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels.
All schools were selected as exemplary high-performing schools as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests. Each school has an economically disadvantaged population of 25 percent or greater.
The schools completed a rigorous application process through the U.S. Department of Education. Schools that received the award were also recognized at the 2016 Blue Ribbon School conference in Arlington, Virginia.
Representing Pittsburg Intermediate for this honor were Judy Pollan, superintendent; Beth Anne Dunavant, assistant superintendent; Sarah Richmond, principal; and Erin Pate, director of intervention.
