Pirates Defeat Tatum, 41-28

Jaylon Jimmerson scored four times on the ground and tossed a pair of touchdown passes, and the Pittsburg Pirates overcame a 28-6 halftime deficit to earn a 41-28 win over the Tatum Eagles on Friday.

After a scoreless first quarter, Tatum (2-3) put 21 straight points on the board and scored 28 in the period to build a big halftime lead.

OB Jones connected with Jachais Jenkins on a 33-yard TD pass to get the scoring started with 5:15 to play in the half. The Eagles then scored two more times in the next few minutes after recovering back-to-back onside kicks.

Jenkins scored on a 3-yard run to make it 14-0, and then Jones hit Jamaurie Wilson on a 35-yard TD pass to put Pittsburg in a 21-0 hole.

Jimmerson’s 2-yard TD run got Pittsburg on the board, but Jenkins sored on a 1-yard run as time expired in the half for a 28-6 Tatum lead.

Jimmerson then went to work in the third quarter, hitting Brent McGee on a 33-yard TD pass, scoring on a 2-yard run followed by a two-point conversion pass to Keithlen Griffin before hitting Griffin for a 65-yard TD toss to tie things at 28-28.

Jimmerson capped his big night with two fourth-quarter touchdowns, scoring on a pair of 8-yard runs to make the final 41-28.

The Pirates are off next Friday, October 6th and will resume with the first district game in Atlanta on Friday the 13th.
